Christ in me
By Kudzie G. Phiri
I have been a Christian for close to 29 years now, born again tongue talking you name it, I have always seen things in a different light to that of others guessing because of my prophetic disposition. Over the years one thing has become abundantly clear and that is Jesus Christ is the answer, he is the only way, the truth and the life! If ever I can be of help and assistance in your life then I truly must lead you to him, I must instill in you a sense of love and adoration for the master for he alone is the key.
My heart has been burning with this great amazing conviction of the revelation of Christ which is Jesus revealed to all mankind, truly having Jesus at the center of everything. Paul says, “ I have been crucified with Christ [that is, in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith [by adhering to, relying on, and completely trusting] in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” As a Christian, a born-again believer my life must reveal Christ who lives in me, my life must be a testament of his glorious nature which means that I must be totally sold out to him or as Paul put it having been crucified with Christ. I have found that in the Christian world that we presently live in it is so easy to get caught up in everything else and abandon that which really matters Jesus Christ the very essence and form of Christianity. The reason for our existence!
We find that people are easily swayed by whatever appears to be physically tangible, constantly looking for a messenger or should I say idol that relays the message or represents a god. In our African culture there is a long history of seeking answers from witch doctors, wizards, spirit mediums or anything that has a semblance of some divine properties and this has also translated into the church. Where people no longer see God or seek to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit instead they want to hear from an intermediate, “a man of God”. In the Old Testament given the stubborn nature of the children of Israel, God spoke through the prophets yet under the new covenant through Christ Jesus there is no barrier to hearing the voice of God.
So now I ask you are we not all children of God, does the word not say that the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us? Romans 8:15 says, “For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading again to fear [of God’s judgment], but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons [the Spirit producing sonship] by which we [joyfully] cry, “Abba! Father!”
Do you not realize that the Lord delights to commune with you, he delights to speak to you, to share his heart with you, over your life and his word. Do you not know that you are the body of Christ Jesus, Peter says, ‘that you are a holy priesthood, a chosen generation!” The word tells us that we have an advocate in Jesus Christ, we have been given the Holy Spirit to teach us all things, to reveal to us the truth, brothers and sisters when we cling to a man or form of divine entity we negate the power of God, and we turn our backs on Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The word says that the 3 are one! When you gave your life to Jesus you received the Holy Spirit and came into constant fellowship with the Father!
There is no argument that God still speaks through people, and we have been given our pastors, bishops etc as shepherds to guide us and to always lead us to where? to Jesus! David says you lead me beside the still waters you refresh my soul, that is it right there, whoever your spiritual oversight is they ought to lead to you the river of life, to Jesus himself! Wherever you find yourself idolizing the set men or women in your life you have allowed them to occupy the space that only Jesus ought to occupy in your life. He alone gave his life that you would have eternal life, he alone is the name above all names, and the word tells us that, “all power in heaven and earth is given in the name of Jesus.” So there can never be any other name greater than his, no set men or women are greater than he is. The word says that, “many that are led by the spirit they are the sons of God” Being led by man is not the stipulation to be called sons or daughters of God, it is the spirit, the father and the son for they are one!
I grew up in Christian home driven by Christian values and eventually I came from a family of pastors. I have nothing but the deepest respect for all those that answer the call and become a part of the clergy or the term we use, “man of the cloth.” From a young age the Holy Spirit began to separate me and taught me things that were not expected because the set person had not declared them as law. This often got me in trouble and as a child that always sought the approval of a spiritual father I often yielded and followed the rules. The older I got the more “defiant” I got, I walked out of our family church because I felt the Lord leading me elsewhere. When I finally got out of the family church years later I realized that I had gotten to this place where I was broken and seeking some form of human approval and which I never got it. It was this constant need and desire for man’s approval that eventually landed me in a rut in the church I had made home after leaving the family church. I found myself in between a rock and a very hard place, I stood out, the Holy Spirit led me in a specific direction that was contrary to that of the church I was in. I found myself growing more towards the ministry God intended for me yet that meant that I could not be who people expected me to be. The Holy Spirit then reminded me of my seclusion as a child, I often felt alone and I found God to be my father so I let go of the need to seek the approval of any man. There is alot I can go into on that but my point is I got to place where it was once again God (in 3persons) and me. I had to learn to trust in God above all else and to cling to his word, it was separation time again. In my seclusion I found peace because I found Jesus.
If you are not being lead to Jesus with every message you hear or every worship service you attend then there is a serious problem. Jesus is and must always be at the center of it all!
I have given you a bit of a glimpse a back story into the purpose of this blog. Walk with me and lets reveal Jesus! Let our light so shine before man, let us be true to his name! We are his sheep!
